Has anyone had surgery for Hyperhidrosis with negative results?

Hyperhidrosis --sweating of the hands and feet

Has anyone had surgery for Hyperhidrosis with negative results?
i did not have the surgery , but i can give you the answers , may be i am a doctor:)

a) if you are a young person i suggest you do not have this done since it will improve as you grow older

second : there are many ways of dealing with this problem , the first , best and simplest is : use anti-preperent and forget anything else

second : none surgical methods : botox injections into the area is a good option that does not involve surgery

third surgery : sympathectomy ( where the surgeon cuts off certain nerves that carry sympathetic innervation to the limbs)

there are 2 ways of doing the surgery , one is by sing a scope with a small incision, other is by open surgery with a bigger wound

now to answer your question:

all operations carry risk

a) GENERAL : infection , bleeding, scarring

b) specific to this operation: failure of getting the result you want , excessive dryness specially if you are young now

hope this helps
Reply:I had extreme sweating of my hands, feet, arm pits, and head. And I do mean extreme. the surgery corrected the sweating of my hands, arm pits, head, it did cause extra sweating in other areas. Back chest legs. The down fall is the sweating there seems to be just as bad as it was in other areas Report It

Reply:I am about 45# overweight and I don't know if that will help reduce the sweating in those place. Personally it is nice to shake someones hand and not have them wipe it off on there pants right after, it is also nice to not have large pit stains on all my shirts Report It

Reply:However it is still a bit unpleasant to have large sweaty spots on my back and chest of my shirts. I deal with that by always getting cups of ice and eating it, that seems to cool me off for awhile and stop the sweat. Report It

Reply:I know how you feel and feel sorry for all that have to go through this, it really is a very big problem that people without hyperhidrosis don't understand. Report It
